The team, led by fifth-year head coach Jay Ladner, played their home games at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as second-year members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 16–16, 9–9 in Sun Belt play, to finish in sixth place. As the No. 6 seed in the Sun Belt tournament, they lost to Texas State in the second round.
