On February 11, 2012, American singer and actress Whitney Houston was found unconscious, at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California, submerged in the bathtub. She was pronounced dead later that day. The cause of her death was not immediately known; local police said there were "no obvious signs of criminal intent". On March 22, 2012, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office reported that Houston's death was an accidental drowning caused by the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use". Houston is one of the world's most awarded performers of all time and a pop culture icon. With sales of more than 220 million records worldwide, she is among the best-selling music artists of all time.
